This bass guitar is one of the Spector NS-2™ bass guitars. It features the EMG Pickup P/J version of the NS-1™ and a curved body. Early models were with dot neck, later models with SPECTOR® Scallop MOP Inlay. It has a Badass™ Bridge. This bass model was produced from 1979-1985 and approximately 900 units were build. Today, Stuart makes eight to ten Spector neck-through basses a month in his shop near Woodstock, New York, and he also offers production instruments built under contract in the Czech Republic, Korea, and China. The Spector NS-2000/5 Dan Briggs Signature bass will be shipping soon with a street price of $1,399. Korean Ibanez Serial Numbers The serials below should start with one or two letters to indicate the manufacturer, then follow with one of the several possible number schemes below having somewhere between 6 and 10 digits. C = Cor-Tek (Cort), S = Samick(1990–1995), S/SQ = Saehan(Sunghan), P = Peerless (Iida), Y = Yoojin, A = Sae-In.
At best, our import instrument serial numbers indicate year of production. They will not determine the exact month & day.
Additionally the serial number process has changed over the decades at our factories & is not straight forward. Also there are exceptions to any rule such as serial number dating.
Our Czech serial number info is as follows :
1993 thru 2000: serial numbers do not indicate year of production. Use our Czech Archived Import Model Sheet on our site & use the bass specs to determine the years of production.
Note: some early SSD Czech models may not have a serial number.
2001 is when our Czech model serial numbers started to indicate the year of production. On the back of the headstock you will find “NB” with digits following.
2001 – 2010
If there are four digits after the NB, you would add (1) to the first digit to determine the year.
Examples:
NB 0212 = 2001
NB 2517 = 2003
NB 9914 = 2010
2011-2012
Starting in 2011 there will be five digits after the NB and the rule is to add (1) to the second digit from the left.
Examples:
NB 10219 = 2011
NB 11543 = 2012

However this system does not apply to more “modern” NB serial numbers….they appear to be as follows:
NB 12xxx = 2013 thru 2014.
NB 13xxx = 2015 thru 2016.
NB 14xxx = 2017.
NB 15xxx = started late 2018.
Spector was showing lots of new instruments at the NAMM show this year, including the NS-2000/5 Dan Briggs Signature bass. It’s modeled after the same NS-2000/5 that Briggs has owned and played since he was 16.
The bass features neck-through construction with a 3-piece rock maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, maple body wings, and a quilt maple top. The body’s shape is true to the original 2000/5 curvature. Besides dot inlays, the fingerboard has a special 12th fret inlay designed by Ben Tuttle.
Spector fitted the bass with a pair of SSD Dual coil humbuckers as well as their TonePump Jr. circuit. Controls include separate volume knobs for each pickup as well as bass and treble knobs. The Spector NS-2000/5 Dan Briggs Signature bass will be shipping soon with a street price of $1,399.
