Install QGIS on MAC OSX
This document is intended to work both as a tutorial and a reference guide. While it does not list all possible use cases, it should give a good overview of the principal functionality. Starting from 0.9 release, QGIS has optional scripting support using Python language.
- EDIT. I just bought an m1 mac mini last week that shipped with macOS Big Sur. I just downloaded QGIS mac installer v3.16 and installed the program on my computer. First time i tried running it, it didnt open or react (just bounced up and down in the bottom bar).
- QGIS will be installed in /usr/local/qgis. If QTDIR is set and gdal-config and pgconfig are both in the PATH, there is no need to use the -with-gdal and -with-pg options. The configure script will properly detect and configure GDAL and PostgreSQL.
The main release packages for Mac are maintained by KyngChaos, aka William Kyngesburye. Thanks, Bill!
