The story here is very interesting in that this is a direct sequel to the last Medal of Honor game. I always got the impression that EA wanted a game with a gritty modern story like we got in the Modern Warfare games and that is how this game feels in terms of its story.Medal of Honor: Warfighter features Preacher from the first game who has returned home and found things are not exactly good. He along with the rest of the Tier 1 Squad head back out into the world to take down terror wherever it may be. The story is ok, many people hate it, but I think it has a big action movie feel to it. It does not have memorable characters or anything like that, but it is big, loud, and over the top.
Where Is The Heart?
Many people will say that this game flat out sucks, but I think that is very, very harsh. The campaign is better than most people give it credit it for. The problem is by the time that Medal of Honor: Warfighter was released first person shooter fans had come to expect a lot more from their games. The game feels like it is just going through the motions. The gunplay can be exciting and the missions do try and shake things up with having some on a boat, you on the run, and so on. Yet, you just feel like something is lacking in terms of the gameplay.One area that the game does excel in is the production values. While I feel the story is not exactly award-winning stuff. There is no denying that some of the set pieces that happen are very well done.
Bring A Friend
The multiplayer for this game is probably long dead, but this was what really made people made back in the day. Remember how I said the campaign was lacking? Well, the same can be said for the multiplayer. The way the weapons feel in the campaign and the multiplayer is like night and day. I am not saying this is a bad thing, but it is kind of weird.
I do feel that EA tried to do some cool things, like characters having abilities which is common now, but not so much back then. If you were replaying with your friends this could be a fun time, but at the end of the day when this was released, there were so many better first-person shooters than this.
The reboot of the series in 2010 was not bad at all, but when Medal of Honor: Warfighter was released in 2012 many fans felt let down. So much so that there has not been another game in the series released since then. Medal of Honor may have been the original, but games like Call of Duty, Battlefield 2, Halo, and so on took over. I would not say that this is a bad game and it may be worth checking out, but it is a real shame that this is the way the series went out.
